What types of impurities are filtered by the different types of filters? Things to be considered before buying a water filter.

Freshwater is a limited resource, so every kind of water available isn’t fit for drinking. Factors like the growing population and environmental degradation are mainly responsible for this. So we need to know the various purification techniques available in the market.

Water contains many minerals naturally dissolved in it, but if they are present in excess, they cause problems for humans. A good water purifier removes excess salts, excess minerals, microbes, and suspended particles, and the essential quantity of minerals are maintained in the water.

Nowadays, due to excessive manufacturers present in the market, it is challenging to choose the best RO UV water purifier.

The working principle of both water filters and water purifiers is same. Both first take contaminated water, the process is and then filtered water is pushed outside. A water purifier can remove microbes and viruses both, while a filter cannot.

Chlorine is one of the earliest methods used for water purification.

Hydrochloric acid is released by chlorine, which reacts with microbes and destroys them. However, due to its ill effects on health, its use has been discontinued.

There are six different types of filters available in the market

It is used to purify soluble impurities mainly gases like nitrogen, ammonia, chlorine and organic matter like algae, leaves, or any other dead and decaying matter present. Carbon has poured on its surface, so it absorbs pollutants in it. Also, if the coal is coated with silver, it can kill bacteria too.

It is made up of a box containing sand and gravel with removes pathogens.

As it cannot filter the chemicals, so the water poured in it should be free from chemicals, after draining the water is collected in a container. Some microorganisms grow in the top layer of the sand known as bio layer eats up the pathogens. It can also remove suspended particles and can filter 12-18 liters in each batch.

A multilayer water purification technique, including active carbon and particle filtration. In this process, the water is passed through the membrane and removes minerals and microorganisms. R.O. can also improve water taste, but it is not 100% safe as some of the impurities pass through the filter too. It is mainly for those regions where there is a high amount of dissolved minerals. It has some ill effects on health also like sometimes the essential minerals are also flushed along with the impurities.

A constant supply of water is also required.

In this method, UV light is used to kill the bacteria, and also it removes pesticides by 99%. This is a very efficient technique used to deal with different problems like smell, taste, colour, and pathogens.

Made with clay along with rice husk and sawdust, these are hollow cylindrical shaped filters also having storage capacity. These kinds of filters can remove chlorine and E.coli bacteria.

When the water is passed through resins, it becomes soft as the resins absorb the minerals. It may be used to demineralize water completely.

· First of all, you should know the mineral count of your water like pH, nitrates, fluorides, etc. So it would be best if you got your water tested utterly.

· Then you need to decide that you need water purifier just for drinking or for the complete water system in your house.

· Check out different options are available in the market. Also check whether it is approved by various labs and associations like Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), etc.

· Compare the price of available options online as well. Also, check the maintenance cost before buying.

· Before buying ask few questions like-

1. The certification of the product?

2. After how much time the filter needs to be replaced?

3. Duration of warranty and the parts to be covered under warranty?

4. What is the speed of the screen if it is an R.O. purifier? (high- speed filter is recommended).

THE BEST CHOICEThere are many brands of water purifiers present in the market. Each one of these are different from each other in the technique used, price, service cost, and warranty. Mostly water purifiers today are equipped with 2-3 technologies like R.O. and U.V. purifiers and many more. Before buying, consider your water type and because one technique is not practical for all kinds of water so the best RO and UV water purifier should be selected. So choose wisely. Do a little research before you should buy the RO and UV water purifier.
